I currently have mine set to Vulkan (experimental). Just work your way down the list and see what works a little better for you. There should be a "Backend" box with a few different options to choose from. Try different values and see which gives you the best boost in performance. Also within config, in the advanced tab, try messing with the CPU clock override option. Whatever it's currently on, try the opposite with your friend and see if there's any improvement.

It should be a check box labeled "enable dual core." GC games were originally ran on a single core processor, so it would follow that the emulator would prefer that as well. The main one to try is in the configuration settings. Essentially, fuck around with the settings within Dolphin until small improvements are made. The last suggestion is a doozy, but it's worth trying if the above options fail. Then, go into your graphics card settings and set priority for Dolphin, but only when Dolphin is open and running. Steam, spotify, virus protection, everything.

Make sure that nearly everything else on your PC is off. Hosting on FM is a nightmare for me, but I can't see why a large percentage of people would lie to me, so maybe try a different version just make sure that your friend uses the same version. For some reason, Slippi works waaaaaaay better for me, but I've played with other people that insist that FM is better. Not sure if you're trying to play Melee, but in my case there are two preferred builds to play Netplay: Slippi and Faster Melee.

Both players should do this.ĭifferent versions of Dolphin get different results for some stupid fucking reason. Second, assuming you're using an adapter and GC controller, make sure that it's plugged into a USB 3.0 port, ideally in the back directly into the motherboard. So unless both parties are using fiber or really great internet, there's going to be some delay issues. Obviously, in my case, 3K miles away is a tough sell. Very, very rarely is wifi okay for netplay.įirst thing to consider is distance. Hopefully I shouldn't have to say this, but both of you should be using ethernet, not wifi. It's really tough and not entirely figured out on my end to be honest. I recently moved to the PNW from Midwest and tried playing Melee with some friends back home.
